J managed to get on Smurf’s good side, but on “Animal Kingdom” Season 4, episode 7, she will test his abilities to step up and take charge of the Cody family.

“J (Finn Cole) gains favor with Smurf (Ellen Barkin) as he puts together the plan for a new job,” the “Know Thy Enemy” synopsis teases. In the TNT promo video, J, Pope (Shawn Hatosy), Craig (Ben Robson) and Deran (Jake Weary) appear to be gearing up for another job.

In the Season 3 finale, J vowed to take everything Smurf loved away from her. However, in the previous episode, he put a tracker on her car and learned she visited a cancer treatment facility. Now that J knows about Smurf’s diagnosis, will he abandon his plan?

“Angela (Emily Deschanel) learns more about what Smurf’s been hiding,” the “Animal Kingdom” Season 4, episode 7 synopsis says. In the promo video for the TNT drama, Angela tells J that she isn’t afraid of Smurf, but he insists that she should be.

In the previous episode, Pope told Angela that Smurf had cancer. Angela has been using Pope to secure her spot in the Cody home, and now that she knows about the diagnosis, it seems like she wants to continue digging into Smurf’s secrets.

Will Angela find something she can hold over Smurf, or will the information change her perspective of the Cody matriarch?

“Craig explores his new relationship with Renn (Christina Ochoa),” the “Know Thy Enemy” synopsis states. In the previous episode, Craig told Renn she should quit selling drugs because she was pregnant, but Renn insisted it was how she made her money.

Craig didn’t like the idea of Renn dealing and brought the rest of stash so she would stop. It appears he’s interested in seeing where their relationship can go, but will Renn allow Craig to be in her baby’s life?

“Pope struggles with his changing role in the family,” the “Animal Kingdom” synopsis reveals. Pope isn’t happy that Smurf has forced him to keep her cancer diagnosis from his brothers. Now that he believes he is the only person Smurf shared her secret with, will their relationship change for the better?

Smurf and Pope have been at odds all season, but it appears he will attempt to figure out where he stands with his family. Will Pope be able to mellow out and peacefully coexist with everyone, or will he spiral out of control once again?
