  • Sony might hold another State of Play this September
  • Fans speculate the conference might feature the new "God of War"
  • Sony has yet to address the circulating rumor

Sony Interactive Entertainment may possibly hold another State of Play conference in the coming weeks following an insider’s remark during a livestream that seemingly confirmed the previous months’ rumors regarding the presentation’s date.

One Redditor claimed that YouTuber Nate the Hate, a content creator who focuses on gaming and industry news, said that Sony’s new State of Play will be happening this September. This was mentioned during Spawn Wave’s Spawncast podcast where Nate and a host of other figures in the gaming industry were talking about new game releases.

Some gamers took this State of Play mention optimistically, as many PlayStation fans are still waiting for more PS5 game reveals, especially for the upcoming “God of War” game that’ll serve as a direct sequel to the franchise’s PS4 reboot from 2018.

Nate the Hate’s statement somehow confirmed previous rumors regarding an unconfirmed State of Play event that’s scheduled for September. In July, game journalist Jeff Grubb said that Sony was seemingly targeting September as the date for a new presentation, according to Comicbook.

Grubb is a known industry insider who has previously given accurate information regarding all things gaming, from release dates to announcements and everything in between. He was also present during the Spawn Wave podcast, but he did not comment on Nate the Hate’s mention of the possible State of Play in September.

Other gamers immediately dismissed Nate’s passing mention of State of Play since there has been plenty of other rumors regarding the presentation’s supposed schedule.

The previous State of Play presentation was held back in July where multiple trailers were revealed, including those for “Death Stranding Director’s Cut,” “Lost Judgment” and “Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles.”

Some PlayStation fans speculated that the next State of Play will feature the upcoming “God of War” sequel while others predicted that there will be an announcement for “Death Stranding 2” after actor Norman Reedus seemingly confirmed that a sequel to Hideo Kojima’s cryptic adventure game was apparently in negotiations, VGC reported.

Sony typically holds a State of Play several times per year with unpredictable schedule patterns. They are usually an hour long and they can feature either one title or multiple games depending on Sony’s intentions.
