A Czech anti-vax singer died of COVID after she purposely caught the virus so that she could get a health pass that would allow her to visit the sauna. For those unversed, in the Czech Republic, proof of vaccination or recent infection is needed to travel and enter any public place, including bars and restaurants.

The singer, identified as Hana Horka, died Sunday at the age of 57, her son Rek told local media. He said that he and his father contracted COVID before Christmas and instead of keeping away, Horka, who was not vaccinated, purposely stayed in close contact with both of them, Inquirer reported.

"She decided to continue to live normally with us and preferred to catch the disease than to get vaccinated," Rek said, Perez Hilton reported.

Horka, who was a vocalist for the band Assonance, deliberately exposed herself to the virus so that she could use her "Get Out of Quarantine" card after recovering, which would give her access to the sauna.

On Friday, two days before her death, she wrote on social media, "I survived… It was intense. So now there will be the theater, sauna, a concert… and an urgent trip to the sea."

She reportedly went out for a walk Sunday but returned within minutes, complaining of severe back pain. Moments later, she died choking in her bed.

Rek blamed his mother’s demise on a local anti-vax movement.

"I know exactly who influenced her… It makes me sad that she believed strangers more than her proper family. It wasn’t just total disinformation but also views on natural immunity and antibodies acquired through infection," he said, Perez Hilton reported.

Rek hopes that sharing his experience would persuade others to get vaccinated against the virus.

On Tuesday, the Czech Republic reported over 20,000 new COVID cases, the biggest single-day rise since Dec. 1, 2021. According to data, 63 percent of people in the country are fully vaccinated against the virus and 31 percent have received a booster jab.
