Apple recently released its new AirPods Pro, the latest audio accessory to boast of noise canceling features, better sound quality, and a new form factor. The new device isn't cheap, however – at $249, it's the most expensive AirPods model to date.

Is spending $249 for the AirPods Pro a good idea? Or will it be more practical to settle with the $159 AirPods 2? Here's a quick look at what might justify the splurge.

Wireless charging case

The second-gen AirPods was an improvement over the original AirPods in terms of sound quality and battery life, and also had the added convenience of wireless charging for a bit more. Users who wanted the AirPods 2 with a wireless charging case needed to shell out $30 more on top of $159 so they can just place the device on a Qi charging mat and have it charged, sans the wires.

The AirPods Pro, on the other hand, doesn't offer buyers the option to choose between getting a wired charging case or a wireless charging case. The audio accessory just comes with wireless charging out of the box. While the new headphones don't come with a charging mat, being sold for only $50 more than the previous model with the same feature doesn't make it too expensive.

Better fit

The AirPods Pro, which comes in a different design, offers better fit compared to the older models. It comes with silicone ear tips in three different sizes, and has an Ear Tip Fit test that allows users to ensure the perfect fit for each ear every time. This means users won't have to worry about their new $249 device falling off from their ears anytime.

Better sound

The new AirPods Pro boasts of several features resulting in better sound compared to its older siblings. The silicone tips help seal sound in the ears, and a new feature called Adaptive EQ tunes mid- and low-range frequencies for a more customized sound.

Noise Cancellation

Here's the real reason why AirPods 2 users should consider making the jump. The AirPods Pro's noise cancellation features do not only prevent outside noise from interfering with the user's audio experience; it also helps users hear the music better, resulting in hearing all the details that should be heard.

Apple Insider 's William Gallagher said noise cancellation allowed him to hear details he wasn't previously able to hear, such as a singer's breath and more.

Sum it up

So, is spending $249 for AirPods Pro justified? Absolutely. Those who can afford it should get it. Those who can't afford it, however, shouldn't feel bad about having to settle for the $159 AirPods 2. The older pair also boasts of features that are worth spending on.
