The “Justice League” movie really took liberties with Aquaman’s (Jason Momoa) look, and the only homage the character paid its comic book counterpart is his blonde highlights.

For his standalone “Aquaman” film, Arthur Curry is probably going to maintain his look from the DCEU film, according to Screen Rant. Momoa said during “Justice League: The Art of the Film” that Curry’s tattooed body and colored eyes are actually his and the director’s ideas.

“Zack [Snyder] had the idea for the tattoos. Everyone wanted to have a little bit of blond in the hair. For the eyes, I always liked that Van Gogh green color you can get lost in; it draws you in, but you’re also scared by it. So I wanted to have that look,” he revealed.

Snyder will have his hands off on “Aquaman,” since the movie will be directed by James Wan. The standalone film will probably feature Aquaman’s backstory, which was supposed to have been introduced in “Justice League.” Sadly, it was removed due to the film’s time constraint.

“The challenging part is [the Justice League story] is only about a weekend in Author Curry’s life,” Momoa told Entertainment Weekly. “[Fans] might be like, ‘Why is he that grumpy? Why’s he hiding up there?’ We had it all planned out. A lot of things got cut. But it’s not my movie. It’s a huge movie introducing three new characters, and for myself and The Flash and Cyborg, there was a lot that was there we just couldn’t get in. It could have been two movies. We had some stuff with Willem Dafoe. The whole Atlantean part, about me being this reluctant king, there was no need for it because you’re going to see it in Aquaman. It’s not an ‘Aquaman' movie, it’s a ‘Justice League’ movie.”

Another thing that was deleted from the “Justice League” film, according to Screen Geek, is the attack on Atlantis. After the attack, Aquaman consults with Mera (Amber Heard) and Vulko (Willem Dafoe) on what he should do next. Mera wants Aquaman to stay and protect his kingdom, but Vulko told him to follow his heart. In the end, Aquaman listened to Vulko because he felt a responsibility to the people on Earth.

“Aquaman” is slated for release on Dec. 21, 2018.
