‘Are You The One?’ Couple Julia Rose, Stephen McHugh Spark Engagement Buzz

“Are You the One?” has a fresh new batch of matches following Wednesday’s Season 6 finale, but that doesn’t mean fans of the MTV dating series have forgotten about past couples.

Season 4 stars and confirmed non-matches Julia Rose and Stephen McHugh were on and off after their installment wrapped in August 2016, but now it appears things could be getting more serious than ever for the MTV personalities.

A recent Instagram post from Julia has some fans wondering if the two “AYTO?” alums are ready to take the next step in their relationship: marriage. “Proud of this lil homie right here,” Julia captioned the shot of her and Stephen that’s causing all the buzz. “I can’t wait to be your wife one day,” she added.

“Are they engaged?” one fan asked, a similar inquiry repeated by several commenters. “Can ya’ll just get married now pleez,” said another fan. “It’s time to propose already,” one follower wrote directly to Stephen.

While Julia and Stephen didn’t respond to fan inquiries about their status, the image clearly shows Julia’s left hand with no engagement ring in sight.

The engagement speculation comes one week after Julia posted on Twitter that Stephen had “finally put a ring on it” and that she had said “yes.” The post, however, did not include a real ring. The image attached to the tweet showed Julia rocked a Ring Pop and Stephen bended on one knee presenting it to her.

Julia and Stephen’s love story began when they fell for one another on Season 4 of “Are You the One?” They were later revealed not to be a match determined by MTV’s matchmakers on the show and were forced to get to know their other cast mates for the sake of the game. The Season 4 cast eventually found all 10 of their perfect matches and walked away with their shared $750,000 prize, but Julia and Stephen didn’t live happily ever after right after filming wrapped.

Shortly after the finale aired, several cast members claimed Julia had a boyfriend while filming the series. Julia later admitted to being a relationship while on the show but said Stephen had been made aware of her relationship status. “I told [Stephen] straight up that I had someone back at home,” Julia said at the time.

“She can make a thousand mistakes,” Stephen later said of Julia during an appearance on AfterBuzz TV. “She made one right decision.”

During one dramatic Season 5 after show appearance by Julia in January, however, it was revealed that Stephen and Julia had split. They were back together by the summer for their trip to Southeast Asia.
