  • Musk praised the state of Texas for slowly reopening their business establishments amid the coronavirus outbreak
  • Ariana Grande's mother, Joan Grande, lashed out on Musk for being "incredibly irresponsible" followed by a hashtag that said "Boycott Tesla"

Ariana Grande’s mom Joan Grande is apparently not happy with Elon Musk's recent statements.

The Tesla CEO recently received backlash when he posted a tweet on Wednesday (April 29) about his protest against the U.S. coronavirus lockdowns. Joan Grande was among those who lashed out at Musk.

The engineer and industrial magnate took to Twitter to share his thoughts regarding the currently imposed lockdown in the U.S.

“FREE AMERICA NOW,” Musk posted. The SpaceX founder also shared an opinion piece from The Wall Street Journal that argued how the quarantine practice hasn’t been a helpful practice, along with the statement: "Give people their freedom back!"

In a series of tweets that tackled the lockdown, the Tesla CEO also commended Texas for reopening their business and retail centers. “Bravo Texas!” Musk tweeted, alongside the news article by the Texas Tribune.

One Twitter user also seemed to agree with Musk's sentiments, posting: “If the CFR is as low as the Santa Clara Stanford study (.12%, this one appears to have errors in data analysis and be based on Facebook advertising), or even closer to Iceland (.7% for closed cases), reopening CAREFULLY (with proper social distancing) would be the ethical thing.”

Musk chimed in to say that he agrees to “reopen with care & appropriate protection” and added that everyone shouldn’t be put on “de facto house arrest.”

While some of Musk’s supporters and fellow netizens expressed their support for his controversial post, the Tesla mogul also triggered some criticism online, including from Ariana's mom.

In response to Musk’s post, the mother of the pop star wrote, “How incredibly irresponsible of you and you think you are a person of science and technology... you're a disgrace!"

Joan also added that she will “now have to get rid of her TESLAs.” She continued to criticize Musk by saying that he is “clearly not very smart” and included the hashtag "#BoycottTesla."

All throughout the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis, Musk has continually been sharing his views regarding the disease and its impact. The Tesla CEO has also been spreading incorrect information that downplays the virus, as well as sharing other data that have not been scientifically proven. He recently tweeted a piece that highlighted how children are “essentially immune” to the coronavirus disease despite these claims having been proving wrong.
