'Ark: Survival Evolved' Developer Shares More About Its Upcoming DLC Expansion Pack

Earlier this month, Studio Wildcard, the developer behind the popular multi-player dino-survival game "Ark: Survival Evolved," along with its ExtraLife partner team, has announced huge fundraising milestones. As promised earlier by the developer, each fundraising milestone will prompt an opportunity to share sneak peeks of the upcoming DLC expansion pack "Ark: Genesis".

For starter, "ARK: Genesis" is the next chapter in the action-adventure survival game "ARK: Survival Evolved." This upcoming expansion pack is expected to boost ARK storyline by adding unique and diverse biomes via a brand-new mission-based game mechanic. The upcoming DLC content "ARK: Genesis" will bring all-new creatures, which include shapeshifting creatures that transform from small to ferocious, and island-sized sea turtles. There’s a fireball shooting dragon-like creatures that thrive in extreme, lava-filled environments.

ARK Genesis to bring a new AI companion

This week, Studio Wildcard is revealing more details about the upcoming DLC expansion pack "ARK: Genesis." As expected by many "Ark Survival" fans, the upcoming expansion pack will bring a new map that will feature more extreme volcanic activities, some few extra temperate biomes, and snow-filled mountainous areas. Additionally, the new DLC content will also bring an expansive water biome.

Studio Wildcard is bringing Helena, the biologist who authored the lore-filled explorer notes, in this upcoming DLC content. She will bring a hovering AI companion that will act as an information provider and guide, offering "Ark Survival" players with duties, missions, and story. This newly added AI companion will be able to show a hazard warning by showing some danger signs, like cranium or crossbones. The AI companion will also be able to signal alarms for dangerously low temperatures and extremely hot temperatures.

The "ARK: Genesis" DLC expansion pack will bring two components. Part one will arrive in December 2019, while part two will be released sometime in January 2020.

What to expect from the upcoming DLC expansion pack

Earlier this month, during the Studio Wildcard’s 24-hour Livestream for the ExtraLife charity event, the developer has shared with the gaming world some videos and creative arts from the upcoming DLC expansion pack. All-in-all, the studio has shared six teaser videos about the upcoming DLC content ARK: Genesis. These are the teasers videos about the new TEK Shoulder Cannon Weapon, new Fishing Net item, new remote-controlled Cruise Missile weapon, Magmasaur creatures, Lunar Biome Environment, and the new Bloodstalker creature, the Gamasutra reported.

The Lunar Biome Environment will bring a whole new gameplay mechanics as well as visuals. Players are expected to experience a low-gravity biome with irradiating sunlight that’s could be dangerous for the "Ark Survival" players if they exposed to it. In addition to that, there are meteor bombardment and electrical storms.

"Ark: Survival Evolved" is currently available on Android, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One. Linux, Apple's OS X, and Windows. Check out the studio's newly released teaser videos below.
