Arnold Schwarzenegger decided to take up the iconic role of Terminator in “Terminator Genisys” as he feels passionately about his character. He discussed with Screen Rant the reason he returned to the popular sci-fi franchise.

“I think it’s a great and interesting character. I think it’s a great story. I think the whole concept that Cameron had way back in the early ‘80s of creating a world where the machines take over and things becoming a reality more and more, which no one could even think of in those days,” he said.

He also added that whole cast and crew have put their best foot forward to bring out the film and according to him it has been a fun experience to be a part of the film. The actor also elaborated on his character saying that he been programmed to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke)

“But I am basically the same Terminator. I will destroy anything that’s in front of me in order to save her,” he added. In the film, Schwarzenegger’s character, Gaurdian along with Connor and Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) will try to save the world from the machines, which will be taking over the world.

For Schwarzenegger, the story was the drawing point. He reportedly enjoyed reading the script and thought it was a great “way of continuing on the story and kind of ignoring the last one.”

Alan Taylor has directed the film from the screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier based on the characters created by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd. The other star cast of the film includes Jason Clarke, Lee Byung-hun and J. K. Simmons. Lorne Balfe has supplied the music and Karmer Morgenthau has done the cinematography. The film opened Wednesday in 3D, Real 3D and IMAX 3D. It had premiered July 22 in Berlin.
