“Arrow” star Stephen Amell shared a personal photo Sunday on Instagram. The actor posted a photo of him holding his daughter as a baby to celebrate her fourth birthday.

Amell and wife Cassandra Jean welcomed Maverick Alexandra Jean Amell on Oct. 15, 2013. The photo appears to have been taken around that time. Amell stands shirtless holding baby Mavi in his arms. “Happy 4th Birthday to our beautiful Maverick. She’s going to rule the world,” he wrote in the caption.

These days, Mavi is a bit bigger. Last weekend, Amell shared a photo from the little girl’s early birthday celebration. He presented his daughter with a unicorn cake.

The Green Arrow actor often shares anecdotes on social media about his little girl. Most recently, he revealed that Mavi has been amusing herself by tickling his feet. The 4-year-old has apparently been making Amell giggle while he tries to sleep during the day (“Arrow” often shoots at night).

It looks like he spent part of his daughter’s birthday weekend watching movies with her. He tweeted that they watch “Cast Away” and “Moulin Rouge” Saturday.

The father likely cherishes whatever time he spends with his kid since he doesn’t come home to his family every night. “Arrow,” like all the CW’s DC TV shows, films in Vancouver. Amell’s family, however, is based in Los Angeles. Amell and Jean created a rule to help them handle the long distance relationship.

“My wife and I are pretty into a rule that we never really go more than seven days without seeing one another,” Amell told Entertainment Tonight last year. “And Facetime certainly makes things [easier] especially, especially with Mavi because she doesn’t even understand the basic tenants of a phone call. If she heard me on the phone, she would be, ‘Why can’t I see dada?’”

While Amell has clearly figured out how to be a good dad, his superhero counterpart is struggling. Last week’s “Arrow” Season 6 premiere revealed that William’s (Jack Moore) mother died on Lian Yu, and she asked Oliver to take care of their son for the first time. Having missed more than a decade of William’s life, fatherhood will be quite an adjustment.

“Oliver’s doing his best, but obviously he’s learning on the fly,” Amell told Entertainment Weekly. “This is not a situation where William went from an infant to a toddler to — he’s on the verge of being a teenager now and Oliver has had to step in. William has also had to deal with seeing things for the first time in his life that would traumatize anybody. So Oliver is doing his best, but William is a reluctant participant, so to speak.”

In next week’s episode, Oliver will have to balance being the mayor, the Green Arrow and a father, but it’ll be hard to focus when Anatoly (David Nykl) returns to Star City with a dangerous plan.

“Arrow” Season 6 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
