The long wait is over as author J.K. Rowling has finally unveiled the secret contents of the new Pottermore website.

The new site has been designed to create an exciting online experience following the tremendous success of Rowling's series of Harry Potter novels. All seven books have received much critical acclaim and popularity with over 450 million copies sold worldwide as of now.

All these seven novels will now be available as e-books at the Pottermore website, apart from their digital audio versions.

Rowling launched the new site at a press conference at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

I wanted to give something back to the fans that have followed Harry so devotedly over the years, and to bring the stories to a new digital generation. I hope fans and those new to Harry will have as much fun helping to shape Pottermore as I have, stated Rowling at the official launch.

Just as I have contributed to the website, everyone else will be able to join in by submitting their own comments, drawings and other content in a safe and friendly environment -- Pottermore has been designed as a place to share the stories with your friends as you journey through the site, she further stated.

Pottermore has been created in partnership with Sony to provide fans an interactive platform to meet and access several other features.

It all started with the unveiling of a new project where fans were asked to enter 10 individual coordinates in the search box of a site called secretstreetview.com. The coordinates were later revealed on the 15th and 16th of June to spell out the word Pottermore. Since then, there have been various speculations over Rowling's new project which was finally revealed today.
