A Texas man has been jailed for 20 years after he admitted to repeatedly raping a 9-year-old boy while the man was babysitting him.

Jesus Andrade Lizama, 53, from Houston was accused of sexually assaulting the nine-year-old unidentified victim, five Saturdays in a row at the victim’s home while he was babysitting, say court records. Lizama was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child Tuesday, Harris County District Attorney said in a news release.

According to the court records, during one of the assaults, Lizama dragged the victim from his bedroom and covered his mouth when he tried to scream for help. Lizama also threatened the boy that he would kill him or his sibling if he revealed the abuse to anyone, ABC 13 reported.

The abuse came to light after the child reported the incident to his parents.

“Children are the most vulnerable people in our society and when an adult victimizes them, it can mean life-long trauma,” Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said. “That’s why our most important work is to seek justice in cases like this and help the victim get closure and begin to heal,” Ogg added.

The repeated attacks on the child were the ultimate betrayal, Assistant District Attorney Edward Appelbaum commented. He said, "The victim's parents entrusted him to take care of their child and he violated that trust."

"It's a sickening and heinous crime, and it is absolutely heartbreaking for the victim and the family, " Applebaum added.

In July, a Florida man was arrested after the toddler he was babysitting was found dead in a bathtub while under his care. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Joshua Manns, was arrested on charges of ignoring, abusing and murdering the 3-year-old boy who was abused for weeks before he was found dead in the bathtub of his house.

A medical examination revealed that the child had a broken rib, a broken tooth, damage to his esophagus and at least seven stab wounds to the head. The medical examiner also found that there were at least three stab wounds that showed signs of healing.
