In a horrific incident, a babysitter was so desperate to make a 15-month-old cry that he battered the baby to death. During a court hearing Tuesday, Lavar Harris, 38, pleaded guilty to killing the child, identified as Chosen Smith.

Harris, from Wilmington, Delaware, assaulted the child several times in February 2018 along with fellow babysitter Tameke Wright, 23. Wright was also arrested after police ruled the baby's death to be a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.

According to the Sun, on the day of the tragedy, the two babysitters assaulted the toddler, but when Harris told Wright that the boy had stopped crying, he hit the child that caused his death. The News Journal reported that Wright told Harris the toddler needed to be hit in the back of the head.

After the assault, the boy had to be transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Doctors reportedly found bruises and scratches on his body.

In an earlier incident, the pair allegedly pulled down the baby's diaper and struck him with a belt and a remote control, according to court documents. Among other torture inflicted on the child, Harris once picked up the boy by the arm and strike him in the chest. He also put the boy in a cold shower for 10 to 15 minutes “to keep him awake.”

When Harris and Wright were arrested, they told police the child had fallen off a futon.

An autopsy found the boy's skull was fractured at the back and his head injury was strong enough to burst blood vessels, the Sun reported.

In another horrific incident that took place in Wisconsin, a babysitter allegedly killed a two-month-old boy and returned the baby's corpse to his mother saying he was sleeping. The woman was charged earlier this month with intentional homicide.

According to reports, Marissa Tietsort, 28, of Wausau, caused the infant's death in October 2018 but did not inform the mother about it. The pregnant babysitter, who is also a mother of five children, put the baby in a snowsuit and placed him on the car seat to make him appear to be sleeping. Tietsort also faced a felony child abuse charge in another incident involving an 11-month-old baby girl.
