Barcelona Captain Lionel Messi is looking more ready than ever as La Liga is preparing to return to action after a break of nearly two months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Messi and his Barcelona teammates returned to training a few weeks ago and the latest video shared by the Catalans on social media shows Messi has not allowed the lockdown to take a toll on his fitness or form as he looks to be as sharp as ever.

"Football isn't ready," the La Liga side wrote on Twitter as they shared the video, which turned out to be a treat for Messi fans who had been missing their hero in action during the lockdown.

The video shows the Barcelona skipper, donning the new clean-shaven look, producing his stunning tracking back, a perfect slide tackle to retrieve the ball before finally setting up an attack in a perfect scene. Messi is seen running as fast as he can, gets involved in a one-two with Jordi Alba before scoring his trademark goal, where he runs with the ball, literally waits for the opponents to give up before putting the ball at the back of the net.

The only difference this time around was that his Barca teammates were on the receiving end.

While Messi looks all set to go for La Liga, which is set to restart on June 11, with a match between Real Betis and Sevilla being considered as the returning fixture of the Spanish league.

“It will depend on how the training progresses, but hopefully it will be possible to restart with our first match on Thursday, June 11,” La Liga’s chief, Javier Tebas, recently said in an interview.

As of now, Barcelona are on the top of the La Liga table, two points clear of second-placed Real Madrid and 11 ahead of third-placed Sevilla.

Earlier, only groups of 10 players were allowed to train together but this Monday (May 25), La Liga gave a green signal for groups of 14 to train together.
