  • Nivine Jay defended Ben Affleck from those who called him creepy after her viral TikTok video
  • Jay said she was not making fun of Affleck but herself for thinking he was a catfish
  • Several Twitter users also didn't find Affleck's video for Jay on Instagram creepy

Nivine Jay and several other Twitter users defended Ben Affleck from those who called him "creepy" over a video the actor made for the actress.

Jay shared a clip on TikTok where she looked remorseful after realizing that she unmatched Affleck on the dating app Raya. Apparently, she rejected him because she thought it was a fake account.

The "Argo" star sent her a video on Instagram to prove his identity. "Nivine, why did you unmatch me? It’s me!" Affleck said.

Several found Affleck's gesture creepy. However, Jay sided with Jennifer Garner's ex-husband saying she was not making fun of Affleck but herself.

"I'm seeing a lot of comments calling him a creep and l don't think that's fair," Jay told E! News. "l was making fun of myself for thinking he was a catfish and it was just supposed to be funny."

Several Twitter users also disagreed with the creepy comments against Affleck. For them, he wasn't being like that at all.

"Yeah I saw the video finally, and he isn't being creepy. It was obvious to me that he was trying to let her know he was really Ben Affleck. If she chose to not go forward with him that's fine, but seems mean to blast him like that," one Twitter user commented.

"I feel like Ben Affleck isn’t even trying to be creepy or weird. I feel like the guy is just so woefully divorced and lonely," another user wrote before adding, "He shouldn’t have messaged her that it’s actually him but I don’t think his intention was from a creepy place."

Jay defended Affleck because many commented on her video that the “Gone Girl” star was so creepy for reaching out to her using Instagram after she rejected him on Raya. Several netizens also shared the same opinion about Affleck on Twitter.

"Ben Affleck is so creepy i wish i could unsee that video," one tweeted.

"I don't know who needs to hear this -- but sending someone a message on a different app after they've UNMATCHED you on a dating app is creepy and stalkerish. Even if you're Ben Affleck," another wrote.

"I don’t know why but I find that Ben Affleck news creepy. Like why go look for her on Instagram," a third user added.
