The next designer-Target collaboration will showcase none other than Mr. Jason Wu.

Wu is a favorite of many Hollywood royals as well as very special leading lady, Ms. Michelle Obama herself.

The Target collection will include apparel, handbags, and scarves and is set to debut on Feb. 5, 2012.

This announcement comes on the heels of Target's sell-out Missoni collaboration, which hit stores nationwide on September 13. The Italian line launched products such as dresses, rain boots, and home items in the department store and products flew off the shelves. Not only were the stores wiped clean of the famous zig-zag pattern, but the Target website also crashed.

The Wu collection is most likely going to have the same mass appeal.

The exciting thing about this limited edition collection of affordable women's wear and accessories is that it allows me to reach a wider audience and bring my designs to people who may not have been able to purchase them before, Wu told Women's Wear Daily.

Wu is known for his adept skill of adding a bit of flare to the archetypal prim and proper style. After all, the designer was once a graffiti artist who became known in the nineties for inking bus-shelter ads of model Kate Moss, according to Style.com. Of course someone with such a colorful past would produce a similarly colorful product.

In 2009, the First Lady chose to wear his design at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Inaugural Ball. This design was a one-shouldered white dress embellished with flowers and a layered, floating skirt. Jaws dropped as the name Jason Wu rang in ears around the world. Since then, the designer has most certainly become a household name. The Target partnership will only solidify this.

Here is a look at some of the designer's best pieces from his Spring 2012 show.
