Blacklist
Red (James Spader) and Liz (Megan Boone) will be searching for scientist Julian Powell (Joshua Close, pictured) in episode 17 of "The Blacklist" Season 2. NBC

Liz (Megan Boone) is finally off the hook with those murder charges! On the past few episodes of NBC’s “The Blacklist,” the FBI agent has been facing an indictment for the murder of the harbormaster. But in episode 16 Red (James Spader) tracked down Tom (Ryan Eggold), who returned to Washington, D.C., to confess to the crime. Now Red and Liz can get back to work and focus on the next case, like the one in episode 17, “The Longevity Institute.”

According to the synopsis for the new episode, airing Thursday, the next name on Red’s list is a scientist named Julian Powell (Joshua Close). Powell has been researching a method to extend human life -- indefinitely! Unfortunately, the doctor has been testing his research on innocent victims and getting the opposite effect.

The promo for episode 17 reveals that while Liz and the FBI are hunting down Powell, someone else is trying to get to him first – Red! A scene from the promo shows Powell getting into Red’s car, where Red tells Powell that he’s interested in his research. What does Red want with the experimental ticket to immortality? Fans will have to wait to find out.

Meanwhile, even though Tom confessed to the harbormaster murder in episode 16, the covert operative was somehow able to walk out of the courthouse free. However, it will be a little harder to get out of D.C. in one piece as he must evade a bunch of enemies he has made over the years.

Why does Red want Powell’s research? Will Tom find a way out of Washington? Tune in next week to find out. “The Blacklist” airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
