Country singer Blake Shelton will leave "The Voice" at the end of Season 23 after spending over a decade as a judge on the NBC singing competition.

Shelton announced his plans to exit the show on Tuesday evening by posting identical statements to his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

"I've been wrestling with this for a while, and I've decided it's time for me step away from 'The Voice' after next season," Shelton wrote.

"This show has changed my life in every way for the better, and it will always feel like home to me."

Shelton went on to praise the people behind the scenes who worked to make the show successful.

"This show has changed my life in every way for the better, and it will always feel like home to me," he stated.

"It's been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns, and I want to thank everyone at 'The Voice' from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew, and catering people, you are the best."

Shelton credited the show for helping him make "lifelong bonds" with his wife Gwen Stefani and "The Voice" host Carson Daly.

The "Hollaback Girl" singer joined the judges' panel in 2014, and the pair began dating in 2015 following Stefani's split from Gavin Rossdale and Shelton's divorce from Miranda Lambert.

Shelton and Stefani married in July 2021 at Shelton's Oklahoma ranch.

The "Happy Anywhere" singer also gave a special nod to "The Voice" contestants and fans who supported the show.

Shelton, who has appeared on every season since the show's premiere in 2011, will be the last of the original panel of judges to exit the show.

When "The Voice" made its debut on NBC, Shelton was seated in what became the show's signature red chairs alongside Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green.

Throughout the years, other major artists like Pharrell, Alicia Keys, and Miley Cyrus have appeared on the judges' panel, but Shelton held the role for every season. Levine appeared in the first 16 seasons of the show before his departure.

When Shelton returns to "The Voice" Season 23 for his final run, he will be joined on the judges' panel by Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper, and Niall Horan.
