Let’s face it: BlizzCon 2019 is just a few days away, and fans are all too excited to know if the Anaheim, California bound convention will indeed reveal Diablo IV and a remastered version of Diablo II. Word also has it that World of Warcraft: Shadowlands will also be announced, as per a Reddit post.

But BlizzCon 2019 isn’t done with the rumors just yet. ESPN, as told by their sources, pointed to a new Overwatch title that will feature, among others, a shiny new logo and a slew of novel add-ons that will make the franchise step up to a new level.

This huge revelation was courtesy of the website’s “BlizzCon source and a BlizzCon training document” that goes in line with a previous report that Blizzard was working – and focusing – on a Player vs Environment (PvE) version of Overwatch 2. This also prompted them to cancel a supposed first player shooter (fps) game “set in the StarCraft universe,” said PC Gamer.

While Engadget said that Overwatch 2 is more of a refinement than an overhaul, the information gathered by ESPN headlined new hero talents and in-game items. This will include a “four-player story experience set in Rio de Janeiro.”

Likewise, the new game will give more emphasis on its “story and narrative elements.”

Should all of these are true, the franchise will also bound to have its first new mode since 2015. “Push” will be set in Toronto, and it should sit well alongside perennial favorites Control, Escort, Assault and Hybrid.

Blizzard said Overwatch die-hards that would be attending BlizzCon will have a chance to play the new PvE and Push this weekend. They are also expected to announce “at least” one new hero during the event.

There’s no further details as to when Overwatch 2 will be made official, but the fact that the new inclusions are already playable means that Blizzard is right on track. PC Gamer’s Bo Moore also predicted Blizzard’s new move when he said that the next Overwatch will be “story-driven.”

Be that as it may, Blizzard will still have to tackle and make amends on the brouhaha that saw Hearthstone player Ng Wai Chung on the hot seat after he voiced out his reactions amidst the Hong Kong anti-government controversy. To say the least, Blizzard can and will bounce back from this horrid nightmare, but they will have to do it one step at a time.
