The Nintendo Switch console was released just two days ago, and its lineup of supported games is already expanding. Another game which has just been confirmed to come to Nintendo’s new gaming system is Inti Creates’ “Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.”

Over the weekend, Nintendo Everything learned from an official notice to system users that the spiritual successor to “Castlevania: Symphony of the Night” is among the titles that are confirmed to be heading to the Nintendo Switch console. It was originally designed for release for Nintendo’s Wii U, but given the delayed release of the game to 2018, it’s not so hard to figure out why developers are preparing it for the hybrid console.

“Bloodstained” was previously slated for a 2017 release based on its Kickstarter project that successfully reached its initial goal a day after it was launched. The campaign blew up in a short span of time and even gathered $5,545,991 worth of pledges from 64,867 backers. In September 2016, creator Koji Igarashi and the developers announced that the release of the game was pushed back to 2018 to ensure the quality of the game at launch.

“The last thing I want to do is keep our backers waiting, but after receiving such incredible support, I feel responsible for delivering the best product I possibly can,” Igarashi said before admitting that they want to do this game right the first time. Since some things have changed for the game, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the developers are taking it to a new direction. Niche Gamer says it’s possible that Igarashi and Inti Creates would follow the team behind “Yooka-Laylee” and just ditch the Wii U version while also providing refunds to backers who wanted it to come to the dated console.

A demo version of “Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night” was released in June 2016 to backers who pledged the Kickstarter project $60 or more and filled out a survey. The demo had an expiry of three months, according to GameSpot.

The official description of the game reads: “You are Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist curse which slowly crystallizes your skin. You must battle your way through a demon-filled castle summoned by Gebel, your old friend whose body has become more crystal than flesh.”

“Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night” is set for release in the first half of 2018 on the PS4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, PC (Windows, Mac and Linux) as well as on the Nintendo Switch.
