In a horrific incident, a man stabbed his 21-year-old girlfriend to death following an altercation, which erupted after she refused to fetch water for him. The incident took place in the city of Jamshedpur, located in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand, on Saturday.

Local media reports said the woman, who was a college student, died on the spot. The woman's roommate suffered serious injuries in the incident. Police said the accused used to frequent the rented house of the woman. The couple had gone out for shopping and after returning, the accused asked her to fetch a bucket of water from a nearby tube well as he wanted to take bath.

When the girl refused and asked him to go instead, the man got into an argument with her. He then took out a knife and attacked her. The woman's roommate tried to escape, but she too was injured in the incident.

Police arrived at the scene and took both the women to the hospital. Authorities said an autopsy was being conducted on the deceased, while the other woman remained hospitalized with serious injuries. The accused fled the scene when police arrived. Authorities are questioning the suspect's father to locate him.

In April, a 20-year-old college student was murdered by her boyfriend in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu after her family refused their relation and fixed her marriage with someone else. Local media reported that the accused wanted to marry his girlfriend but both their families were against their relationship.
