  • The names are currently ranked 97th on the Baby Names Popularity Charts

"Brian" and "Bryan" baby names, which mean high and noble, have dropped in popularity recently following gruesome crimes committed by three men of the same name, a report claimed.

According to a TMZ, a spokesperson for popular website Babynames.com said that they have been seeing the once-famous name plummet in rankings of most popular baby names after the crimes of Brian Laundrie, Brian Walshe and Bryan Kohberger.

Not a single user has added "Brian" to their list of favorites since August last year, the spokesperson told the outlet. Meanwhile, "Bryan" also reportedly decreased in popularity by 10 percent in the past year.

As of writing, the names are currently ranked 97th on the Baby Names Popularity Charts by BabyNames.com.

Data from the United States Social Security Administration (SSA) website showed that the name of Idaho Murders suspect Bryan Kohberger ranked 66th during his birth year in 1994.

Kohberger is currently facing four counts of first-degree murder charges and one count of felony burglary in relation to the fatal stabbings of University of Idaho students Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin.

The four were found dead from stab wounds in their off-campus apartment in Moscow, Idaho. Evidence from the crime scene allegedly point to Kohberger according to a probable cause affidavit released earlier.

Kohberger is being held without bail in Latah County in Moscow, Idaho and will face the court again on June 26. He has yet to enter a plea.

The name of Brian Laundrie — alleged murderer of his girlfriend Gabby Petito — meanwhile, ranked 37th during his birth year in 1997.

Petito was reported missing last Sept. 11, 2021 during a cross-country road trip with Laundrie. According to reports, her remains were found not long after at a natural forest in Wyoming on Sept. 19. Authorities ruled Petito's death as homicide by manual strangulation.

Laundrie went missing shortly after Petito was found. He was determined to be a person of interest at the time. On Oct. 20, his remains were found in Florida's Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park and his death was ruled as suicide.

For Brian Walshe, suspect in the alleged killing of his wife Ana Walshe, the name ranked 8th during his birth year in 1976 according to the SSA.

Walshe is accused of assaulting and beating his wife with the intent to murder her, along with moving her body or remains. However, he pleaded not guilty to the charges. Ana Walshe's body is yet to be found.
