Queen Elizabeth will be celebrating her 70th anniversary on the throne at the Platinum Jubilee in February 2022. Brits are encouraged to plant trees for her anniversary, according to Reuters.

During the summer of 2022, there’ll be a four-day celebration in which U.K. citizens should plant their trees and greenery. This is an extra day added to the holiday so everyone can participate in the milestone.

The bank holiday weekend is set to start on June 2 and end on June 5.

“Named ‘The Queen's Green Canopy,’ the charity-backed project will encourage communities, schools, councils and landowners to plant native trees to help the environment and make local areas greener.”

The monarch is said to have planted more than 1,500 trees since the start of the Queen’s reign. In order to give back to all the Queen has done over the years, this is an easy way to give her something special plus something that will be beneficial for the environment.

Environmental issues and conservation are something the royal family has been advocates about for many years, so that adds to the importance of the planted trees.

"As we celebrate Her Majesty’s incredible 70 years of service, I encourage everyone to get behind this scheme and go ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee,'" Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated.

Queen Elizabeth has been reigning since Feb. 6, 1952.
