  • BTS bagged all the major awards at this year’s MAMA and performed their biggest hits of 2020

BTS fans were not happy after noticing that the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) poster of BTS did not include one of its members, Jin.

BTS took the stage and showed yet another incredible performance at this year’s MAMAs, which was held Sunday at the CJ ENM Contents World in Paju, South Korea. RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook stunned their fans, collectively known as ARMY, with their performances of “ON,” “Dynamite” and “Life Goes On.”

The boy band swept all major awards: artist of the year, album of the year, song of the year and worldwide icon of the year. BTS also took home the trophies for the best male group, best dance performance (male group) and best music video. Suga's collaboration with IU, “Eight,” bagged the best collaboration award during the ceremony as well.

One thing that had the BTS ARMY fuming, however, was MAMA leaving out the group's eldest member Jin from the award show's promotional poster. Fans immediately began trending the hashtag #BTSis7 on Twitter as they tweeted their complaints toward MAMA.

“Once again... Why does it always happen with Jin... How many times do we have to constantly remind that BTS is 7? MAMA should apologize to Jin. Can't they bother to even double-check what they are doing,” wrote one Twitter user.

“A big and stupid mistake by @MnetMAMA. Such unprofessional and careless behavior. Please respect the artists, it's like disrespecting their fans and your viewers,” wrote another.

“Hey @MnetMAMA #btsis7. they are pretty important that's why you have their picture in this little collage so you can imagine how despicable it is for you to disrespect them and their fans by leaving a member out. BTS is 7,” a third fan said.

“Hey!! @MnetMAMA, you must put this on your banner instead! Now apologize to Kim Seokjin! We want fair treatment to every artist,” wrote another fan.

Meanwhile, Jin recently also made headlines due to his impending military enlistment. Fans celebrated earlier this month after the South Korean government passed the revision of the country’s Military Service Act that would allow K-pop entertainers who have received “Order of Cultural Merit” medals from the government to apply for deferment.

As BTS was awarded the medal in 2018, the revision buys Jin two more years before he would be required to enlist for mandatory service in his country.

Jin, who turned 28 on Friday, also gifted fans an emotional solo track titled “Abyss” on his birthday.

In a letter posted on the band’s blog, Jin opened up about his feelings and said that he felt “severely burnt out.”

“Recently, in a press conference, I said ‘I don’t like to share my sad feelings with the fans,” wrote Jin. “This is because I only want to show them the good things. However, I feel differently if it’s through music. I don’t like to share it through my everyday actions, but I think it would be okay to show them through music.”
