  • J-Hope and Jimin are the first two BTS members to place a No. 1 song on Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs chart as soloists

J-Hope has become the fifth BTS member to hit the peak of Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart as a soloist with his new track, “More.”

The hip-hop track re-entered the chart dated July 16 and landed at No.1 marking the rapper’s first time leading the chart. Previously, Jung Kook, RM, Suga and V had placed songs at the peak of the said chart with their solo work.

Released on July 1 by BigHit Music, “More” displays the BTS member’s “thirst” to make himself known as a serious soloist after nine years of being in a boyband. This desire is most evident in the lyrics of the song, “Yeah! I'm thirsty / I need to go surfing on the beat/I'm in my element/ Keep my passion, I gotta go .”

“More” debuted at No. 6 on the Hot Alternative Songs chart and also at No. 9 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The track also took the No. 82 spot on Billboard Hot 100 after it received 4.4 million streams apart from selling 12,000 physical copies from July 1 to 7, Billboard reported.

J-Hope also joined Jimin as the first two BTS members to place a No. 1 song on Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs chart for their solo works. The chart tallies the songs discussed on Twitter and does not necessarily measure what the netizens are listening to. From July 1 to 7, “More” was mentioned 3.1 million times on Twitter.

Jimin is the other BTS member who entered the chart at No. 1 with the track, “With You,” released in May as part of the soundtrack of the drama, “Our Blues.”

“More” is part of J-Hope’s upcoming album, “Jack in the Box,” which is set to be released on Friday.

On the work front, the “Butter” singer is slated to perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago on July 31. Ahead of his appearance at the music festival, he also playfully dropped a hint regarding the songs that will be featured in his performance at the festival.

On Tuesday, a fan wrote on the fan community app Weverse, “ I’ve been listening to ‘MORE,’ ‘Hangsang,’ and ‘Baseline’ together recently. It puts me in a good mood and helps me concentrate, too! It’s so good!!!!!” J-Hope, also known as Hobi to his longtime followers, dropped two emojis - the secret emoji and the zipper mouth emoji that convinced fans that the abovementioned songs are part of his Lollapalooza setlist.

“Baseline” and “Hangsang” are part of J-Hope’s 2018 mixtape “Hope World” which peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard 200.
