Global sensation BTS won this year’s Best Group and three more trophies at Europe's MTV Music Awards held Sunday in Hungary. Ed Sheeran won the award for Best Artist.

BTS won in all four categories it was nominated -- Best Group, Best Pop, Best K-pop and Biggest Fans.

Meanwhile, Sheeran was also awarded the Best Song award for “Bad Habits," along with the Best Artist title.

The “Butter” singers claimed the Best Group, Best Virtual Live, Best Song and Biggest Fans at last year's awards, as per The Korea Times.

Meanwhile, rookie girl group and chart-toppers Aespa was hailed Best Korea act in the local act winners.

Sunday’s winners also include Lil Nas X for the Best Music Video Award for “Montero" (Call Me By Your Name), and Doja Cat and Sza for “Kiss Me More” for the Best Collaboration prize.

Rapper and awards show host Saweetie won the Best New award.

Nicki Minaj won the category for the Best Hip-Hop while Olivia Rodrigo scored a win for the Best Push.

For the local act categories, Little Mix won for the U.K. and Ireland and Taylor Swift caught the trophy for the U.S.

Interestingly, Justin Bieber did not win any awards although he was nominated in eight categories.

Following a virtual event in 2020, MTV European Music Awards was held live at the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna in Hungary and aired on MTV in 180 countries. The show’s stage was decorated with a water theme that was inspired by Budapest’s thermal spas and the Danube River.

Sheeran opened the show with a rendition of his latest track, “Overpass Graffiti” and he transitioned later on to his latest hit, “Shivers.”

The 2021 MTV European Music Awards extended its support to the LGBTQ+ community and it was highlighted with the performance of German singer-songwriter, Kim Petras, the first transgender artist to perform in the awards show.

“Censorship of any kind of love sucks. It’s not good. No one should feel, you know, not represented in media. No one should feel like it’s not okay to be who they are,” Petras said in an interview with the AP on Sunday.
