Activision ramps up its marketing campaign following the official reveal of "Call of Duty: Vanguard" on "Warzone" by revealing details about the game's Alpha.

This year's "Call of Duty" installment is set to have its official Alpha test this week, according to Activision. The Alpha test starts Friday at 1 p.m. ET and ends at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Unfortunately, the Alpha test is only exclusive to gamers who own PlayStation 4 and PS5. Other gamers on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will have to wait for the test.

As an advance gift, all PlayStation 4 and PS5 console owners can access the test even if they do not have a PlayStation Plus subscription. Gamers who would like to begin playing "Call of Duty: Vanguard" Alpha the moment it opens can start pre-loading it at 6 a.m. ET on Aug. 23.

Once players have downloaded and installed the alpha, they can open and play it from "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare," "Warzone" or "Black Ops Cold War." PlayStation and Activision have provided pre-load links that players from various regions all over the world can use.

Interestingly, the upcoming test will allow players to experience a new game mode called Champion Hill. It is a unique multiplayer mode where eight teams compete in a round-based round-robin. In this mode, there are Buy Rounds in between Combat Rounds and the team that outlasts all opponents is declared the winner.

Moreover, the game mode includes 2v2 and 3v3, suggesting it would feature matchmaking that forms teams so that everyone can participate. The game's alpha test is free and no pre-order is not required.

However, those who pre-ordered "Call of Duty: Vanguard" will get rewards when they try the game's alpha. These rewards include an Emblem and a Calling Card they can use in the game, as well as in "Warzone" as soon as the integration of the new game in "Call of Duty: Warzone" is complete.

Apart from those details, the in-game settings menu of the alpha reportedly reveals "Vanguard" will support 120 Hz on PS5. Other settings of "Call of Duty: Vanguard" Alpha on PlayStation include Tactical Sprint and weapon mounting.

"Call of Duty: Vanguard" will release on Nov. 5 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4 and PS5.
