Camilla Parker Bowles made a major fashion faux pas in New Zealand.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall have started their eight-day tour to New Zealand. The royals have been photographed visiting community-based projects where they meet and greet the crowds who have been waiting to see them.

When the couple arrived at Government House in Auckland, they received a formal welcome with the country’s armed forces giving them the traditional Maori greeting. They then had to rub noses with the officials.

However, the Duchess of Cornwall made an awkward blunder with her choice of hat that proved to be too big for her to perform the Maori greeting. A Maori warrior was photographed wincing as Camilla’s hat pressed against his forehead during the nose-rubbing greeting as shown in photos shared by Daily Mail.

This is the third time for Prince Charles and Camilla to visit the country. They visited New Zealand in 2012 to mark the Diamond Jubilee and returned in 2015. Following the ceremony, Prince Charles met New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern at Government House.

On the other hand, Camilla attended a solo engagement by visiting Shine, a domestic violence charity. During the visit, the duchess paid tribute to the staff by praising them for their dedication and hard work.

“You’re all doing a brilliant job. Just listening to the survivors is so important,” Camilla said. “Hopefully today we can up the ante and raise a bit of awareness.”

A few weeks ago, Camilla suffered from chest infection, forcing her to cancel her attendance in an engagement where she was expected to join Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The condition could be life-threatening but some cases are mild and clear up on their own. It seemed that Camilla had immediately recovered because she was able to join the royal family on Remembrance Sunday.

In related news, it was not a secret that the heir apparent had an “unhappy” marriage with Princess Diana. However, although his second wife, Camilla, was not as popular as the late Princess of Wales, many noticed that the future king “is a lot happier” today.
