The relationship between Casey Anthony and her mother Cindy Anthony continues to remain strained nine years after the most-hated mom in America was acquitted of murdering her daughter, Caylee.

While Casey, 33, and Cindy, 61, have talked to each other in the past, things have reportedly changed for the grandmother of Caylee after her husband George was involved in a car accident. George, who now has brain damage from the crash, is Cindy’s top priority as she has taken on the role of being his caretaker, the Daily Mail reported.

Cindy admitted to the news outlet that she is perfectly happy with not speaking to her daughter because she doesn’t need the drama in her life. She hasn’t heard from her daughter in ages but maintains that it is better that way.

“She and I agreed that it's just better we don't talk,” Cindy told the news outlet. “As much as I miss her and I love her I am dealing enough with my husband that I don't need her drama.

“She didn't reach out on Mother's Day - and I am perfectly fine with that. I asked her to just do her thing. I think about her all the time but my life is with George. It's gone in a different route and he's my priority right now.

“You move on with your life. I can't continue to live in the past,” she added.

Casey has also tried to have a relationship with her father, George, 67, even after she accused him of sexually abusing her on live TV, Radar Online reported. At the time, they didn’t speak to each other, and it seemed to be the arrangement her father preferred.

George said on “The Dr. Oz Show,” while discussing her daughter, “She doesn’t need to exist anymore as far as I’m concerned.”

Since his car accident, George has spoken publicly about forgiving his daughter and has said he wants her to visit him.

Casey told the Daily Mail at the time, “It would take more than one visit. It would take more than an ‘I love you! He has to admit to things before he can heal. Until then he is not going to do anything but suffer,” she said.

Casey was accused of murdering her daughter in 2008. She was acquitted of all charges but served time in jail for lying to police. Since the high-publicity, six-week trial, Casey has moved into the home of one of her defense team investigators and has been spotted out in the Florida city where she lives.
