Nathan Fillion is making another cameo appearance in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” and the actor will actually be recognizable this time. The “Castle” star played a character in the prison scene in the first flick, but after the special effects team turned him into a blue alien, he was hard to identify. This time, Fillion’s good looks are helping make his role believable.

Set photos that surfaced on photo sharing website Imgur appear to reveal that Fillion will play Simon Williams. The character is an actor, which explains why the set photos are of Fillion in different movie advertisements. A “Tony Stark” poster shows Williams playing Iron Man, and other posters show him in romantic comedies and action films. The signs are all out for the Simon Williams Film Festival.

Williams is also a superhero in the Marvel comic books. He was given superpowers after villain Baron Zemo performed an experiment on him and became Wonder Man. He didn’t stick with Hydra, though. He ultimately teamed up with groups like the Avengers and the Defenders. His powers include superhuman strength and his body is made of “unspecified superhuman flesh-like substance nourished by ionic energy,” according to Marvel.

It isn’t clear if Fillion will be playing Wonder Man or if this is just a cameo. It could simply be an Easter egg for comic book fans. In any case, it seems like Fillion is happy to work with director James Gunn. The two worked together on “PG Porn” and “Con Man” in addition to the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films.

While Fillion’s appearance is interesting, that’s not the only aspect of the photos fans are asking questions about. The movie theater doesn’t look particularly alien and Williams is from Earth in the comics. Could “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” be headed back to Star Lord’s (Chris Pratt) home planet?

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is scheduled to hit theaters May 5, 2017.
