Pastor Carl Lentz broke his silence following reports that he was fired from the Hillsong Church. The celebrity pastor admitted his mistake in a lengthy post on Instagram.

On Thursday, several outlets reported that Lentz was fired from his post as pastor of the Hillsong Church in New York. Lentz is known as Justin Bieber's former pastor and mentor. In a statement, the Hillsong East Coast church announced that it came up with the decision following "leadership issues and breaches of trust, plus a recent revelation of moral failures," TMZ reported.

Lentz has since broken his silence and admitted that these moral failures included his infidelity to his wife, Laura Lentz.

"I was unfaithful in my marriage, the most important relationship in my life and held accountable for that," he wrote on Instagram.

"This failure is on me, and me alone and I take full responsibility for my actions. I now begin a journey of rebuilding trust with my wife, Laura and my children and taking real time to work on and heal my own life and seek out the help that I need."

Lentz said he wanted to apologize in person to people he has served with in the church. But since he no longer has the platform, he made his apology on social media.

"I am deeply sorry for breaking the trust of many people who we have loved serving and understand that this news can be very hard and confusing for people to hear and process ... So to those people, I pray you can forgive me and that over time I can live a life where trust is earned again," he added.

He concluded his message by thanking the pastors who gave him the opportunity to lead. He also assured his followers that his family remains intact.

"We will walk into it together very hopeful and grateful for the grace of God," he wrote.

Lentz received love and supportive messages from his followers following his public apology. Many of them said they were praying for his family and they will continue to support them.
