Chris Brown was detained Monday in Paris after a French model accused him of raping her. He is now planning to sue the woman for defamation, his French attorney, Raphael Chiche, said.

Brown was released Tuesday night without any charges and had no lawsuits filed against him. His lawyer also tweeted that Brown vigorously challenged the charges against him and will file a complaint for slanderous denunciation with the public prosecutor of Paris on Wednesday.

The singer along with two others was placed in police custody on Monday on the suspicion of aggravated rape and a drug offense after the model filed a complaint accusing the men of raping her. Paris prosecutor’s office said, in a statement, Brown and his group were released and were authorized to leave the country while the investigation was still ongoing.

“The charges against Chris Brown have not been dropped and investigations are still going on, but Chris Brown has not been sued by prosecution,” Chiche said after Brown was detained. On Tuesday, he confirmed a complaint against Brown’s accuser was being prepared.

Brown’s accuser told the police she was raped at his suite in the Mandarin Oriental hotel on the night of Jan. 15 She said she met him and his friends earlier that evening at a nightclub near Champs- Élysées.

In a statement to the French publication, Closer, she said, Brown forced himself upon her. “He makes me enter a sort of walk-in closet. He closes the door… It lasted 25 to 30 minutes. It’s still too difficult for me to explain in detail what he did to me. But it was brutal and violent. He was menacing and aggressive. I was very afraid.”

She further said that one of Brown’s friends sexually abused her and that his bodyguard also raped her. “All I wanted was to go home. I was so scared. They were three strong, aggressive and menacing men. There was nothing I could do,” she said.

Meanwhile, Brown denied the allegations and even put up a post on Instagram calling the allegations disrespectful and against his character and morals.

This, however, isn’t the first time the singer was in police custody for violence. In 2009, he violently attacked Rihanna, his girlfriend at the time, in his car leaving her face bruised and swollen. He was sentenced to five years of probation for that assault. In 2013, he struck a man outside a hotel in Washington and was charged with misdemeanor assault. He was ordered into rehab but was dismissed for violating the rules. He spent over two months in custody. In November the same year, Brown was accused of throwing a brick at his mother’s car after a counseling session which was right after he had completed court-ordered anger management classes.

He was arrested in 2016 at his house in Los Angeles for an alleged assault with a deadly weapon after Baylee Curran called 911 from outside the house requesting help. He was later released on a $250,000 bail. In 2017, his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran filed a temporary domestic violence restraining order against him alleging he pushed her down the stairs, punched her in the stomach and made threats to shoot her.

In July 2018, he was arrested after a concert in Florida on a warrant for felony battery. He was booked on the charge and later released on a $2000 bond.
