Christmas is all about being festive. For women, making sure you have a cute outfit to wear during this season of giving is the perfect excuse to spend some cash on yourself. There’s a few different trends to play around with for 2014, and some of the following ideas can help you choose the perfect Christmas Day (and/or Eve) attire. Moreover, many of these suggestions (other than the cute Santa or Elf suit) can be worn throughout winter.

Plaid is Rad:

Hopefully, you have your Nirvana album handy because plaid is making a comeback this winter. (The more chic way to refer to plaid, however, seems to be tartan.) Top designers like Saint Laurent, Mulberry, Givenchy and Versace all sent models down the runway with the pattern that was popularized in the 90s, and it's a fashionable way to celebrate with you family this holiday.

It Suits You:

Not everyone likes to wear dresses. With all the food that is consumed around the holidays, it’s nice to be able to button your pants (or skirt.) Savvy menswear outfits were popular among designers Antonio Berardi, Haider Ackermann, Donna Karan and Richard Nicoll. To add a burst of femininity, a good cut and confidence can help ladies pull off a suited outfit when accessorizing with sexy heels or flashy bag.

Walk the Nunway:

As some might say, “Jesus is the season,” and apparently pious can be pretty for winter 2014. Sounds a little strange, but we don’t make the rules -- we just report them. Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen and Valentino have all put out church-looking garments. Feeling the look? Add some rosary beads a cross earrings -- you might even make your grandmother happy.
