An employee of the United Services Automobile Association (USAA) in San Antonio has tested positive for coronavirus, officials confirmed Sunday.

According to Matt Hartwig, a spokesperson for USAA, the employee was not present at the campus since March 6 and was currently being treated outside of Texas.

USAA had sent a letter to its employees regarding the incident. According to KSAT, Hartwig said the co-workers who came into contact with the infected employee were placed under self-quarantine until March 21, however, none of them has shown any symptoms of the virus so far.

"Our immediate concern is with our affected employee and their family, and we are currently assisting them," said Hartwig.

Laura Mayes, a spokeswoman of the City of San Antonio, said on Sunday that the USAA employee who tested positive for COVID-19 was not among the travel-related cases being investigated by San Antonio Metropolitan Health District.

USAA said it was closely monitoring the spread of the virus in order to ensure the health and safety of the employees. The company has temporarily restricted its international and domestic business travels. Employees with a recent travel history were asked to quarantine themselves at home for two weeks.

As of now, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the U.S is 3,774 and the death toll has reached 69. The number of confirmed cases worldwide has reached 169,387.
