Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ marriage didn’t last due to several factors. But royal fans are wondering if the couple’s relationship would have survived if the Princess of Wales was sweeter and more loving towards the future King.

On the online forum site Quora, one royal fan said that the problem in the couple’s marriage had to do with the public’s desire to see Princess Diana as a fairytale princess. But the truth was that she had tons of flaws.

Hninzi Lwwin put the blame on the media and said that no amount of sweet and loving gestures from Princess Diana would’ve saved the couple’s marriage. This is because the media created a so-called Diana camp and a Charles camp.

“They encouraged Diana to play a lone hand. Diana thought her power was limitless… She attacked Charles, the Royal Family, the Palace, you name it… It came to a point she started defying the Queen herself,” he said.

But Laura Warwick Martin said that the couple’s relationship may have survived if Princess Diana didn’t try to compete with Prince Charles. Instead of always trying to be better than the future King, the late Princess of Wales should’ve shown her support to her husband.

“The only reason Charles turned to his old friend was that he couldn’t cope with or handle Diana, he understood she had mental health problems but not how to help her if she didn’t want to be helped. Sadly, Diana was a manipulative schemer who truly couldn’t understand why her dream of being a princess wasn’t being lived up to,” she said.

But Linda Merrell, a form law student, said that Prince Charles married Princess Diana because his dad, Prince Philip, encouraged him to. Even though the heir to the throne might have been fond of the Princess of Wales at the beginning of their relationship, Prince Charles’ heart already belonged to someone else.

This means that there was nothing that Princess Diana could’ve done to save their union.
