  • Cox believed that the comedy in "Friends" is relevant no matter what generation is watching the sitcom

Courteney Cox got candid about her memory of "Friends."

NBC's hit sitcom ran for ten seasons and aired from 1994 to 2004. Cox, who played Monica Geller in the series, confessed that she couldn't remember everything she filmed for the show.

"I should've watched all ten seasons because when I did the reunion and was asked questions, I was like, 'I don't remember being there,'" she said on "Today's" "Sunday Sitdown" segment as quoted by People. "Yeah. I don't remember filming so many episodes."

She continued, "I see it on TV sometimes, and I stop and go, 'Oh my God, I don't remember this at all.' But it's so funny."

When host Willie Geist asked her why she couldn't recall some episodes she filmed, the 57-year-old actress said she had a bad memory.

"It's really basic," she explained. "I don't remember any trauma in my childhood, but I have, like, three memories. I don't know. I don't know why."

Although the Emmy-nominated producer has a faint memory of all the episodes she filmed for "Friends," she is aware of the sitcom's impact on viewers from the past and the present time.

"It doesn't matter what generation is watching it. It holds up. I think the comedy is relevant," she explained. "People can relate to every character. I don't care how big the cell phone is. The computer you can't lift. Life is that way."

Cox reunited with her five "Friends" co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer for "Friends: Reunion" last year. The six main stars have maintained their tight friendship even after ending the show almost two decades ago.

The reunion had been delayed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the three ladies — Aniston, Cox and Kudrow — staged a mini "Friends" reunion during the 2020 Emmy Awards by watching the awards ceremony together at the "Morning Show" actress' house.

During the reunion, they revisited how they met, their impression of each other and how they felt toward each other in the early stage of the show. Both Aniston and Schwimmer admitted they had a mutual crush on each other but never went beyond friendship because "one of us was always in a relationship."

Meanwhile their reunion, Cox and Ed Sheeran recreated Ross (Schwimmer) and Monica's famous popular dance routine from the sitcom in a hilarious video. On the show, Ross successfully lifted Monica. However, in Cox and Sheeran's version, both fell over on the ground while laughing.
