Prince William and Prince Harry will reportedly find watching the new season of "The Crown" "quite uncomfortable."

Royal expert Kate Nicholl revealed that Season 5 of the hit Netflix series will cover the events that took place in the 1990s, a particularly dark time for the British monarchy.

"I think this series is going to be quite an uncomfortable viewing, not just for [Queen Consort] Camilla and [King] Charles but also for William and Harry," she told ET. "Scenes leading up to their mother's death are going to be very, very uncomfortable for them."

The 1990s marked a tumultuous era for the royal family, as it was when Princess Diana made the decision to leave then-Prince Charles on account of his alleged extramarital affair with then-Camilla Parker-Bowles and died in a tragic accident just a year after their divorce had been finalized.

Prince William and Prince Harry were only 15 and 12 at the time of her death.

"This is a period that they had to live out so publicly," said Nicholl. "We heard Harry talk about the very real impact it's had on his life, and William as well. So for this to sort of be revisited, even if it's done tastefully... for this to be brought up all over again is incredibly hard for William and Harry."

Nicholl added that the feeling that Princess Diana's ghost could never be "laid to rest" because of the series is something that the brothers find "very difficult" to deal with. However, she said the biggest problem that the royal family has with the current season of "The Crown" is that it centers around people who are still alive to this day.

"Those early seasons felt like there was enough history, felt like there was enough distance. But this just feels uncomfortably close," she explained. "That being said, with all the media hype and the attention the series has been getting, it wouldn't surprise me at all if this is the biggest rated season for the series, in terms of viewing figures."

"The Crown" Season 5 will focus on the divorce of then-Prince Charles and Princess Diana, highlighting the "most visual era" of the royal family, characterized by scandals and newfound attention from the media. It will premiere on Nov. 9 on Netflix.
