KEY POINTS

  • Police units will no longer spawn as soon as players commit a crime
  • “Cyberpunk 2077” will now have smoother vehicle handling
  • Players can unstuck their vehicles by wiggling the movement keys while accelerating

After a tumultuous start in 2021, CD Projekt Red has given an update on the continued improvement and development of “Cyberpunk 2077” in the style of an in-fiction news report called “What’s New In Night City.”

The report outlines the details that players can expect in the upcoming 1.2 patch for “Cyberpunk 2077.” The main highlights for this patch will be the upcoming changes to driving mechanics and police response times. The full report can be read on the Cyberpunk website, featuring all of the short clips showcasing the new improvements.

“Cyberpunk 2077” Police Changes

The change to Night City Police response times has been something that fans have been clamoring for since release. In the current version, police NPCs would simply spawn in the player’s general area whenever players commit crimes. In the 1.2 version, police units will take some time to appear at the crime scenes, giving the impression of a more realistic response.

Additionally, the game will now have Police Drones that act as first responders to player-caused crimes for enhanced immersion. The drones will be the first to react to players and will open fire upon contact. Shortly after, actual police officers will arrive to take players down.

Vehicle Handling and Driving Improvements

Vehicle handling in “Cyberpunk 2077” has also been a major point of contention, with many fans complaining about the jerky controls that often lead to roadside crashes and accidents in-game. The new 1.2 patch will introduce smoother car steering and more sliders in the options menu that will allow players to fine-tune their driving experience.

CD Projekt Red mentions that PC players using mouse and keyboard received the worst of the game’s car handling, especially those who would experience frame drops. The patch will address FPS synchronization issues to make each individual car in the game more responsive, especially the ones that were too sensitive to steering inputs.

Additionally, “Cyberpunk 2077” players will now be able to wiggle their vehicles back to the roads with a new Unstuck feature. To use the feature, players will have to rock their vehicle forwards, backward or sideways while holding the accelerate button.

The developers have not yet announced when the “Cyberpunk 2077” 1.2 patch will be deployed.
