“The Witcher” developer CD Projekt Red revealed through a leaked financial report that “Cyberpunk 2077” is on track for a September release. The upcoming title is reportedly in its final stages, despite the delay due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

According to Gamerant, CD Projekt has largely been silent on the status of the game since its delay in January. Fans anticipating the game's launch can now see a glimmer of hope through the accidental leak. The developers see a September release for the game, and it seems that this financial report confirms it.

The anniversary of CD Projekt's official announcement of "Cyberpunk 2077" was also celebrated this weekend. According to Push Square, the game was announced on May 30, 2012. Eight years later, the game is scheduled to release near the holidays and when the lockdowns are lifted.

Depending on how things will go in development, 2020 may also be the year that the game launches. The date has been set for Sept. 17. Those who have waited a long time for it should hope that everything would have settled down by then for the launch to proceed unhampered.

At that time, since the game was announced, another CD Project game, “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” entered five years in the market. It has recently reached the 50-million copies sold mark and has done impressively well for a five-year-old game. The developer can certainly hope that “Cyberpunk 2077” will enjoy the same success.

The game has been announced for next-generation consoles, so it’s safe to say that the developer will try to make the September schedule happen. It is said to be packaged along with either an Xbox Series X or a PlayStation 5, both of which are reportedly coming at the end of this year.

CD Projekt Red has yet to officially announce the upcoming launch of the game or its status, at least. Other details have been revealed, which includes the developer’s claim that their latest game is an “expansive RPG.” Now, since this comes from the studio who made “The Witcher” series, fans have every reason to be excited.
