YouTube star David Dobrik is stepping down from Dispo, an app he co-founded, after rape allegations within the Vlog Squad surfaced earlier last week.

The photo-sharing app mimics a disposable camera, but users can’t see their photos until 9 a.m. the next morning, which creates an element of surprise after a long night out or vacation.

"David has chosen to step down from the board and leave the company to not distract from the company's growth," Dispo said in a statement to several media outlets, per CNN. "Dispo's team, product, and most importantly — our community — stand for building a diverse, inclusive, and empowering world."

A large investor for the app, Spark Capital, announced that it would be “severing all ties” with the company just hours before Dobriks announcement about leaving.

Another group, Seven Seven Six, founded by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, announced that any funds it receives from its investment in the app will be donated to an organization that works with sexual assault survivors, CNN reported.

Dobrik has been under fire after an anonymous woman alleged that she was raped in 2018 by Vlog Squad members. She was given alcohol and eventually became too intoxicated to give consent to participate in a group sex act, according to BBC.

The 24-year-old did release an “apology” video days after the allegation, but it didn’t specifically touch on this incident or who exactly was involved.

The social media star has also been dropped from Hello Fresh, Dollar Shave Club and DoorDash sponsorship deals.
