They have been desperately trying to find anyone who is a match to their daughter, who needs a bone marrow transplant. Now, Eric and Sarah could get some news they’re hoping for, though they may be surprised at the same time by what they learn on the Wednesday, Feb. 12 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

Eric (Greg Vaughan) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) have been dealing with baby Mickey’s cancer for a little while on the NBC soap, and they’ve been devastated by the news they needed to find a bone marrow match if they want her to survive. They were further discouraged when they learned neither of them was matches, and have since reached out to everyone they know to see if they would be tested, in the hopes that someone will be able to help save their little girl. Now, they may get the good news they were hoping for—though it could be from an unexpected place.

“Sarah and Eric receive news about the bone marrow search for Mickey,” spoilers reveal.

Among those who were willing to donate if they were matches were Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen (Stacy Haiduk), who were approached by Xander (Paul Telfer) about being tested. Brady didn’t need to be since he had been tested in the past, but Kristen went to see if she was a match because she didn’t want Sarah and Eric to go through the same devastation she and Brady did over their daughter, Rachel’s, unexpected death.

Now, if Kristen of all people comes back as a match, it will be an amazing day for Sarah and Eric, even if the news that a DiMera of all people was the one to test positively is strange since there is no biological connection between her and the baby girl.

However, what no one except Victor (John Aniston) and Xander knows is that if Kristen is a match, it is because she has a much stronger familial connection to Mickey than anyone thought—because she is her real mother. Following the car accident the day Mickey was born, the baby later succumbed to her injuries and died. Unable to accept that Sarah would be heartbroken, Xander and Victor switched the ID bracelets on Rachel and Mickey—and the baby everyone thinks is Mickey is actually Rachel.

Whether or not that connection will be revealed at some point during this process remains to be seen.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
