As the weather is getting warmer in Australia, snakes are finding cooler places to hide. However, this is often leading to families getting the scare of their lives.

A red-bellied black snake was recently found slithering into a fridge in the garage of a family in Gippsland, a region in southeastern Australia, media outlets reported Wednesday.

The family contacted Rob Harkness from Latrobe Valley Reptile Removal to find and capture the snake as the venomous animal disappeared inside the appliance. After arriving at the property, Harkness searched the area near the fridge and soon found the reptile curled up around a pipe.

The snake was immediately removed and relocated by Harkness.

The snake catcher issued a warning to Australians to be careful as there have been several such incidents recently where reptiles have entered households to escape the heat in the country.

"Remember, if it's a hot day most of our snakes seek a cooler place as they cannot regulate their own temperature hence why they move in and out of hot and cool places," he told 9News. "Make sure you keep doors closed as on hot days a snake can feel the cool air from your house from the gap under your door and may try to find a way in."

Red-bellied black snakes are one of eastern Australia's most common snakes.

Last week, a red-bellied black snake was found in an air conditioner unit at a home in Australia.

In a Facebook post, Stuart McKenzie from Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 wrote that it "took ages" for them to remove the snake from the unit.

"What’s the go with venomous snakes in aircon units lately haha. This took ages to get the snake out but we got there eventually," he wrote.

The rescue was caught on camera and shared on Facebook. The video showed the snake catcher using a torch to find the exact hiding spot. He then removed parts of the air conditioner unit and captured the reptile using an equipment.
