A beachgoer in Australia was horrified after spotting a deadly snake eating a huge lizard on a popular beach.

The 10-foot-long dugite was found slithering on the sand of Whitfords Beach in Perth with the prey in its jaws. "I thought it was a bit of rubbish and went and had a look and...," the onlooker told 7News. "The snake looked like it was having a red hot go (at the skink)," he said.

A short clip showed the lizard squirming inside the snake's mouth as it injects the venom into its prey. The snake was then seen trying to swallow the lizard.

"What the f----," the man can be heard saying in the video.

After killing the lizard, the snake retreated back to the sand dunes to complete its meal.

"Nice to you man (snake), take it easy," the man said to the snake in the video.

The video posted by 7News on its Twitter account was viewed thousands of times.

According to the Australian Museum, dugites are found both in the urban and semi-rural areas of Western Australia. They have a variety of habitats including coastal dunes, heathlands, shrublands, woodlands and forests. They consume vertebrates including frogs, lizards, snakes, birds and mammals. To subdue its prey, the snake uses both venom and constriction.

Several deadly snakes are found in Australian and often residents encounter some of these huge reptiles inside their house.

In a recent incident, a man was shocked to find a venomous snake hiding between flowers inside his house. The snake was found on Feb. 4 in the house in Plumpton, Victoria, following which a reptile wrangler was called to remove it from the house.

The catcher arrived and pulled the flowers apart to spot the 6.5-foot-long eastern brown snake. He said at the time the reptile most likely entered the home to escape the heat outside.

In another incident, a man in Sydney spotted a deadly snake inside the fuel tank of his car. The man left a local pub in Revesby on Jan. 27, and as he approached his car he found the snake under it. It took the WILD Conservation staff nearly three hours to remove the snake from the car.
