Demi Lovato ‘Too Queer To Marry A Man’ After Ex-Fiancé Max Ehrich’s Split

Demi Lovato recently shared her reaction to her split from ex-fiance Max Ehrich in her new YouTube Originals docuseries "Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil" and the realizations she had after the breakup.

The "Skyscraper" singer opened up about her split from Ehrich in her YouTube docuseries. She admitted that their romance happened so fast and she was also surprised with his revelation that he only learned about their breakup from the tabloids. The separation also made her realize that she was "too queer to marry a man."

"I mean, I was just as shocked as the rest of the world at some of the things that were said and done," Lovato was quoted by Entertainment Tonight as saying. "I feel like I'm actually too queer to marry a man in my life right now. I'm not willing to put a label on it right this second, and I think I will get there, but there's a lot of things that I have to do for myself first. I want to allow myself the ability to live my life in the most authentic form possible."

Lovato described her relationship with Ehrich to her friends as "false advertising." She also admitted that starting a romance during the quarantine changed its trajectory.

In the docuseries, Lovato shared her self-taped confessionals after their split. In one video, a stone-faced, glammed up Lovato said she was "sad that things ended the way that they did." However, in another clip, she appeared makeup-free and in tears while retracting her statement from the first clip.

"The video I made earlier wasn't an accurate representation of what I'm going through," she said. "So I thought this whole time that I didn't miss him. I just miss the person that I started quarantining with. And I don't know how to give my heart to someone after this."

Lovato also shared in the docuseries that she was taken advantage of a drug dealer the night of her fatal overdose in 2018. The unarmed drug dealer gave the "Heart Attack" songstress heroin "laced with fentanyl." Lovato got really high and he left her for dead.
