KEY POINTS

  • Shuro Chi is the best spot to grind for weapon XP levels
  • Hunters are the best class to use when grinding Shuro Chi's boss room
  • Weapons still gain XP if they are equipped right before an activity ends

Crafted weapons gain experience whenever enemies are defeated or activities are completed with their help. This process is simple enough, but it can be incredibly tedious to do, especially if players want to level up multiple weapons.

While crafted weapons will naturally gain XP as long as they’re being used, it can still take quite a few hours before players can get their guns to the level they want them to reach.

One of the best ways to level up weapons quickly in “Destiny 2” is by going to the Shuro Chi encounter in the Last Wish raid at the Dreaming City. This encounter can be accessed by joining any Guardian with a saved checkpoint or by simply inputting the following code into the wishing wall near Kali’s boss room.

After arriving at the Shuro Chi boss area, use a crafted weapon to defeat as many enemies as possible before the timer runs out. If all enemies are defeated before Shuro Chi finishes her song, simply stand on one of the plates in front of her to reset the encounter.

Every run in this encounter grants about 30-50% weapon XP. Any class can easily do this XP farm, but Hunters are arguably the best here because of the Shadowshot super and the Orpheus Rig exotic.

Shadowshot can make enemies more vulnerable to damage, and every kill on a tethered enemy will count toward the equipped weapon’s XP bar. Either Deadfall or Moebius Quiver will work well for this as Orpheus Rig will guarantee that the super will be available again in time for the next reset.

Alternatively, players can run through Strikes or Crucible matches with any loadout they want and still get XP for their crafted weapons. This can be done by immediately swapping to their weapons of choice just as a mission or match is about to end. Doing so will deposit XP straight to the weapon’s XP bar.

Players are advised against grinding enemies in the Thrallway or the loot cave entrance at the Grasp of Avarice dungeon since the XP-per-kill in those areas is much lower than the Shuro Chi encounter.
