KEY POINTS

  • "Season of the Lost's" main story has officially ended with the Exorcism mission
  • Some players were unable to finish the mission due to non-spawning enemies and a final cutscene bug
  • The mission rewards players with high-stat armor and unique "Season of the Lost" weapons

Bungie recently released the final story mission for “Season of the Lost” in “Destiny 2,” but fans were notably disgruntled over some intrusive technical issues and oversights that ultimately dampened the experience.

The time to exorcise Savathun’s worm had arrived, but what would have been the primer for the upcoming “Witch Queen” expansion ended in disappointment after many players found that they couldn’t proceed with the mission or watch the final cutscene.

Complaints popped up on the “Destiny 2” subreddit about non-spawning enemies that prevented whole fireteams from making progress, and an issue wherein players would be unable to watch the final cutscene if one member of the team decided to skip it. The latter also kept players from actually completing the mission, forcing them to do the entire thing again.

Bungie acknowledged the issues via Twitter and assured fans that they were going to rectify the problem as soon as possible. “Destiny 2” is set to undergo some background maintenance on Feb. 17, 10 a.m. PST, which should resolve some of the problems players have been experiencing with the Exorcism mission.

The season finale mission will have a randomly-matched group of six Guardians activate the Blind Well one last time to help Queen Mara Sov get rid of the Hive god Savathun’s worm once and for all. Unlike the finale for “Season of the Splicer,” the Exorcism mission simply consists of a few combat encounters. Players won’t have to do another Astral Alignment or Shattered Realm run.

Apart from seeing the storyline of the season come to an end, players can also get a high-stat armor piece along with a random “Season of the Lost” weapon with double perks in every slot. It seems like the mission can be farmed, but not every run will drop double-perk weapons for all players.

The ending of the Exorcism mission successfully set the tone for the “Witch Queen” expansion that’s due out next week. There are still plenty of questions that need to be asked regarding Savathun and how she was able to capture the Light, but hopefully, everything will be explained once “Season of the Risen” officially starts.
