Bungie is going back to the old ways of rewarding “Destiny 2” players for actually playing and grinding in the game instead of buying and spending tons of money to get strong.

Microtransactions have long been an issue not just for “Destiny 2,” but also for several other major titles. After all, it is a good way to earn more for games, especially for those that are free to play. However, Bungie wants to change things, and it is doing something to make that happen.

In the company’s latest blog post, game director Luke Smith announced that there will be a couple of changes when it comes to the vanity and accessory items with regards to microtransactions.

For those not in the know, “Destiny 2” has an in-game store called Eververse that sells a variety of cosmetic items. Players can purchase them through Silver -- a real-money currency – or through Bright Dust, an in-game currency that can be obtained while playing the game.

Unfortunately, with the presence of Eververse, there are a lot of items that can only be obtained through purchase. Meanwhile, only a few are available from quests or other events.

With that said, Bungie will soon reward players with armors through season activities. According to Smith, players will have an armor to pursue every season – something that they can obtain through the activities and not through Season Pass or Eververse.

“As an example: We removed the Eververse Armor from Season 11 and itemized it into an aspirational activity because this is the right thing to do for the game,” Smith furthered in his post.

Additionally, “Aspirational Activities” such as raids, trials and dungeons “will reward players with power, items, and vanity” moving forward. In fact, as Smith noted, the game’s next raid will give players a brand new armor, weapon and exotic accessories upon completion.

In line with these changes, however, “Destiny 2” will no longer sell ships, ghost shells, sparrows and armor ornaments in Eververse that are based on Aspirational Activities.

While Eververse won’t totally stop selling cosmetics and other items, the changes made by Bungie ensures players that they won’t really need to spend in the game to get strong and better.

Interestingly, these are only a few of the updates that Bungie plans to roll out for the game. Previously, it also revealed changes in Seasonal Content, making the core activities available for a whole year.

It sure looks like Bungie is listening to the complaints of its fans, and considering what it is doing; it won’t be a surprise if the “Destiny 2” active user base increases in the upcoming weeks.
