The dream collaboration between developer Hideo Kojima ("Metal Gear Solid") and director Guillermo Del Toro ("Pacific Rim" and "Hellboy") on a new "Silent Hill" game for PS4 ended after Konami canceled the title. The creative duo will talk about their extensive creative history as part of Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain (DICE) Summit Thursday.

The DICE Summit Thursday keynotes begin at 1 p.m. EST with the del Toro and Kojima conversation beginning at 4:45 p.m. EST.

The annual DICE Summit in Las Vegas provides a unique glimpse into the development of big franchises by bringing top game developers and creatives from the entertainment industry together. Organized by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, the conference runs from Feb. 16 to Feb. 18.

While the Kojima and del Toro conversation is the Thursday highlight, there are several conversations that will be very appealing to fans.

Sid Meier is a name synonymous with simulation video games. The first "Civilization" was released in 1991 with the latest entry in the franchise, "Civilization: Beyond" released in 2014 followed by the "Rising Tide" expansion pack in 2015. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series, Meier himself will discuss the franchise with Brian Reynolds, chief creative officer of Big Huge Games and founding member of Firaxis Games, co-founder of Mohawk Games and programmer of several "Civilization" games. For anyone ever frustrated by the warmongering Gandhi in the "Civilization" games, this is a panel not to be missed.

The next talk begins at 1:45 p.m. EST with Rhianna Pratchett, writer and narrative designer for "Tomb Raider" "Rise of the Tomb Raider," "Mirror's Edge" and "Heavenly Sword." Pratchet's talk will focus on how storytelling and narrative elements have changed in games.

Much like Meier is synonymous with simulation games, so too is Bethesda Game Studios when it comes to open world titles. "Fallout 4" was another massive success with gamers who have dedicated hours exploring the wasteland. Todd Howard, creative director of Bethesda, will be joined by comedian Pete Holmes to discuss game design, open world storytelling and fan engagement. Howard's conversation begins at 2:35 p.m. EST.

Closing out Thursday is the conversation between Kojima and del Toro moderated by Geoff Keighley. "This conversation will revisit some of their fondest memories from their own individual careers as well as some of the pivotal moments from each other’s work that remain a constant source of inspiration," the DICE Summit wrote in the conversation's description. After releasing "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," Kojima announced his departure from Konami after a year of reports detailing poor working conditions at the company.

Kojima, del Toro and actor Norman Reedus ("The Walking Dead") were set to work on "Silent Hills" before the game was canceled by Konami. Kojima Productions released "P.T." as an interactive teaser for the new horror game, but, after "Silent Hills" was canceled, "P.T." was removed from the PlayStation Network. Fans were also not allowed the option to re-download the title.
