Did Miley Cyrus Copy Stephanie Sarley's 'Food Porn' Style In Her Promo?

Miley Cyrus has been sharing pictures and videos of her slurping on fruits recently in order to promote her new EP “She Is Coming.” While the fans thought that this is the singer’s unique style of expressing herself, another artist Stephanie Sarley has accused her of copying her style.
A suggestive video that Cyrus shared on Instagram showed her seductively caressing fruits. Some of the fans recognized this as Sarley’s style, and something that she has been doing for years. Sarley’s Instagram page is full of videos that show her inserting her finger into a cut fruit, and the fruits are supposed to represent female genitals.
In an recent interview with BuzzFeed, Sarley said that she was “disgusted” with Cyrus for copying her. The artist pointed out that the whole concept that the “Wrecking Ball” singer has used is “her thing.”
Some of the fans who commented on Cyrus’ posts asked her to give credit where it’s due. Some even asked her fans to support Sarley, and added that she doesn’t “culturally appropriate” or “steal” from other artists.
“She looks lame as hell carbon copying me, looking like a doppelgänger when she’s a gigantic pop star, and I’m out here as a real artist working at this shit every day with visibility and working for years building my art following and having faced adversity over it,” Sarley said about Cyrus.
Sarley lives in Berkeley and does freelance art in the entertainment industry. She said that she has worked hard for years to build followers of her work. In fact it was her followers who told her about what Cyrus was doing. When the artist saw the videos herself, she felt that the “Wrecking Ball” singer has copied her “food porn” style deliberately and hasn’t given her proper credit.
Cyrus using this style of promotion “chips away” at Sarley’s livelihood, according to the artist. The artist said that this makes her feel “sick inside.”
Meanwhile, Cyrus or anyone from her team is yet to respond to the allegations made by Sarley.
