Queen Elizabeth is rumored to have had an extramarital affair while she was still married to Prince Philip. The latter was also previously accused of cheating on his wife.

In the third season of “The Crown,” Her Majesty’s alleged relationship with her friend, Lord Porchester, will take centerstage. And in the previous season, the rumored affair was also mentioned briefly.

During one of the scenes, the Queen (Claire Foy) told Prince Philip (Matt Smith) that she has nothing to hide from him because Porchester is just her friend. Her Majesty also told the Duke of Edinburgh that a lot of people wanted her to marry Porchester, but she refused to because the only man that she had ever loved was Prince Philip.

While speaking with The Sunday Times, royal expert Dickie Arbiter urged the viewers of “The Crown” to not believe everything that they will see in Season 3. Arbiter also denied that the Queen had an extramarital affair with Porchester.

“This is very distasteful and totally unfounded. The Queen is the last person in the world to have ever considered looking at another man. Not only is this muckraking — this is gossip that’s been washing around for decades. It’s got absolutely no substance,” he said.

Arbiter also said that “The Crown” is fiction and it is also important to remember that no one knows exactly what the members of the royal family talked about behind closed doors. The royal expert added that the people behind the show would create storylines the way that they want to sensationalize it.

Porchester remained friends with the 93-year-old monarch until his death in 2001, but there has never been any evidence that they had an affair. Porchester was married to Jean Margaret Wallop, and they have been blessed with three children together.

Meanwhile, Prince Philip was also linked to a slew of women decades ago. However, his alleged affairs were never confirmed either.
